J’ouvert (meaning "daybreak" in French Creole) kicks off in the early hours before sunrise, as revelers take over the streets covered in paint, mud, and powder. This is a ritual of freedom—no status, no expectations, just raw, uninhibited expression.
The air is thick with the hypnotic pulse of Soca music, the bass vibrating through the streets as trucks blast anthems from artists like Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, and Nailah Blackman. The only rule? Keep moving!
